Maple is a charming lady seeking a new home after a tough beginning. She’s truly delightful, a slender girl with long, fluffy puppy fur. Her light brown coat is complemented by a darker fur around her , which accentuates her stunning caramel gaze.

Maple and her siblings were discovered high in the Macedonian mountains. Earlier in the year, we had rescued several dogs from the same area who bore a striking resemblance to Maple. It soon became apparent that they shared the same mother. After some effort, we were able to capture the mother and have her spayed. Although we would have liked to bring the mother dog into a home, she had adapted well to the mountainous environment and was not suitable for rehoming. Luckily we were able to get all of her puppies into our care, they were simply too small to survive the cold in the mountains.

Now that Maple has reached 6 months of age, she is ready to travel and eager to become part of a caring family. She is of medium size at present, but considering her mother’s size, along with her long legs and big paws, we expect her to grow into a large dog, likely similar in size to a Retriever or Shepherd.

She currently resides in a shelter with a variety of dogs, encompassing all sizes and ages. A home with other dogs would suit her well, as she is amicable with all canines and has a great fondness for play. Cats, however, remain somewhat mysterious to Maple; she exhibits no prey drive towards them, preferring to steer clear instead. While she could potentially cohabit with cats, it’s improbable that they would become close companions, but rather, they would be more akin to housemates.

Maple thrives on being around people; she’s a true attention-seeker and will bond with anyone who offers her a bit of affection. She’s affectionate and would happily snuggle up on the sofa in her future home. Maple is fond of children and would do well in a home with them, though her youthful energy means puppy behavior is still on the cards. Fortunately, she’s gentle and not given to jumping, so she should respond well to a little training. As a smart dog, she would excel with structured training, and her long legs suggest she could be an excellent agility dog.

An open crate would be a great way to give her somewhere for peace and quiet when needed. All Maple has known is the mountains and her brief time in kennels. She will need a period of time to acclimate to home life, a bit of patience and understanding goes a long way.
