Stella is a gorgeous senior lady in search of a loving home where she can settle down. This charming medium-sized mixed breed has a beautiful coat of brown fur, now greying around her muzzle, and her large ears are just adorable. She would be the ideal companion for anyone with a Stella-shaped hole in their life.
During a hectic day at the kennels, we received a call from a social worker on behalf of a young man who had to relocate to temporary housing where pets were not permitted. His dog, Stella, had to stay with him on the streets because he wouldn’t leave her alone in the cold. Following an urgent plea, we secured a temporary foster for Stella, ensuring she can await a permanent home in comfort.
Stella is a charming girl who enjoys the company of people she meets, though she may be cautious around unfamiliar dogs. This behavior often stems from insufficient socialization during puppyhood but can be improved with a confident owner who reassures her. Stella is a true companion dog, always wanting to be by your side, preferably near a cosy fireplace. She has a strong pull on the lead, so she needs an owner who can manage her vigour. With Stella’s intelligence, consistent training should help manage her enthusiasm. We’re always eager to offer training advice to prospective owners.
Stella has undergone a comprehensive veterinary examination and received a clean bill of health; her pearly white teeth particularly impressed the vet. She does have some lumps and bumps (don’t we all) but they have been examined and are not a cause for concern. Surgery isn’t required since they do not affect Stella in the slightest.
In her golden years, Stella would thrive in the calm presence of adults rather than the bustling energy of young children. She would tolerate older teenagers, provided they’re gentle and respectful. It’s important for Stella to have a period of adjustment in a serene setting with few visitors, allowing her to become comfortable in her new surroundings. Providing an open crate would offer her a personal sanctuary where she can go for some peace and quiet when needed.
At the end of the day, Stella is an affectionate girl who just needs a chance to be in a loving home again. She would make a great companion for the right owner, she has plenty of years left in her and if we could see her spending them in a home it would fill us with joy.
