Barney, small and sweet, is looking for a home where he can relax and unwind. He wants what we all do, a stress-free life. While Barney won’t take up much space in your home, he’s bound to take up plenty in your heart.

Barney was originally known as Bagel when he was first rescued. His previous owner had the best intentions and tried her hardest to give him a loving home, but with a new baby on the way, his future became uncertain. During his initial assessment, Bagel appeared the more confident of the dogs in the home, and we felt he would adapt well to a new environment. When he arrived in his new home, Bagel was renamed Barney and settled in nicely. However, his owner has since found it difficult to manage him.

Barney thrives in a calm, predictable environment. He needs time to settle and likes to know what to expect, routine and clear boundaries are his best friends. Slow and steady will be the name of the game. We’re looking for an adopter with previous experience of rescue dogs, someone patient and understanding who can give Barney the time he needs to find his feet. Barney can live with other dogs as he has in the past, a meet and greet would be required to make sure the dogs would get along in the home.

Once he’s settled and comfortable, Barney is a very affectionate boy. He loves to chase his tennis ball and enjoys a good cuddle. In his previous home, he lived with children of all ages and was very tolerant, though we feel he’d be happiest in a home with children over 10 ideally those with some experience around dogs.

Barney isn’t particularly fond of the groomers, so a regular brush and occasional tidy-up at home would suit him best. He cleans up beautifully, and his poodle heritage has blessed him with lovely curls that will need to be maintained to avoid any drastic trims.

Barney is a lovely little dog who would make a great companion for the right owner.
