Is that a cotton ball with legs? No, it’s Little Mikey! This tiny, sweet boy is searching for a home where he can finally enjoy the love and warmth he deserves. Mikey is likely a Maltese mix, and his gentle, trusting nature is a testament to the resilience of dogs.

Mikey was found sitting by the side of the road in Macedonia alongside another small dog. Both were likely trying to soak up some sun, as they were missing patches of fur. We immediately took them to the vet for a check-up and brought them to our kennels. After a few days of care and regular meals, Mikey and his friend began to trust us. While Mikey’s companion still needs some extra TLC, Mikey is now ready to find his forever home.

Mikey is an easy-going little guy who would fit well into most homes. He gets along beautifully with other dogs, whether they’re his size or much larger. He’s an ideal playmate. We recommend feeding him separately from other dogs, as former strays can be protective of food, but with some training, this can be managed. Mikey also gets along with cats and would have no problem sharing space with feline friends in his new home.

Mikey is great with children, especially when they come with tasty treats! He’s a gentle and affectionate boy, making him an ideal family pet for children of any age. We imagine Mikey would be a perfect match for an older retired couple, happily welcoming visiting grandchildren. His friendly, adaptable nature means he’d fit in well with many types of families.

We suspect Mikey may never have lived inside a home before – it’s possible he was a breeding dog before being abandoned. He’ll need a bit of time to adjust to a new routine and environment, but with patience and consistency, Mikey will flourish.

As a young pup, Mikey is still learning, and he’ll enjoy some training to help him develop into the best dog he can be. Fortunately, Mikey is food-motivated, so training will be a breeze!
