Oh my goodness, Ava! How we adore her. This stunning girl has become a cherished resident of our kennels. While we strive to treat all our dogs equally, Ava has truly captured our hearts. She dreams of finding a forever home where she can be part of the family, enjoying all the comforts it brings—long walks, cosy beds, and plenty of cuddles.

Ava was discovered wandering the streets of Macedonia without a collar or microchip. One of our rescuers, who has a soft spot for Shar-Peis, spotted her and brought her to safety. It’s clear she was once a beloved pet, though why she was abandoned remains a mystery.

Ava is a Shar-Pei mix, boasting the distinctive features of this ancient Chinese breed—wrinkled skin, a blue-black tongue, and a bristly coat—without the common health concerns like ear infections or skin issues. She’s a healthy, energetic girl, ready to embrace her new life.

She gets along wonderfully with other dogs in the kennels, though we recommend feeding her separately, as her time as a stray has made her protective of her meals. Ava’s relaxed nature even extends to the cats that visit the kennels, so a home with feline friends would suit her just fine.

Gentle and patient, Ava is adored by the children of our rescuers, especially when they sneak her extra treats! We recommend a home with children over 5, simply because her sturdy frame might accidentally knock over younger kids.

A home with a garden would be ideal for Ava, giving her a sunny spot to relax in the warmer months. A daily walk will keep her happy, followed by a well-earned nap. Known for their loyalty, Shar-Peis can be wary of strangers, but with a confident handler, Ava will thrive. While experience with her breed is a plus, it’s not a requirement. Ava is a sweet soul looking for love and a place to call home.
