πΎβ€οΈ BRUNO IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME β€οΈπΎ
Sadly, after five weeks in a home placement, things havenβt worked out for Bruno and he is now looking for a new home that can truly understand and support his needs.
Bruno is a 2-year-old male Labrador Retriever who sadly lost his original owner around seven weeks ago. We understand that his previous life was one of turmoil and unpredictability, and he has had a lot of change to cope with in a very short space of time.
He has previously lived alongside three children, three other dogs and cats. He was later separated and lived with a small female Shih Tzu, who he appeared to get along well with. There had also been an incident involving two resident dogs who had repeatedly been nipping at Bruno’s underbelly, resulting in a scuffle. The dogs were subsequently separated.
Bruno is not a naturally confident dog. He can be very needy and often looks to his humans for reassurance and contact. However, what Bruno really needs isn’t endless reassurance or constant fussing β he needs someone who understands that confidence is built through structure, routine, consistency, boundaries and positive training.
He can be shy and worried around certain men, although he did form good relationships with the three men in his most recent home. His future adopter will need to be patient and understanding while he learns that the world is a safe place.
Unfortunately, his most recent placement highlighted another area where he needs careful management.
The village where Bruno was living is an environment where dogs are frequently walked off lead. While Bruno was being walked on lead, he unexpectedly encountered two loose dogs around a corner. This resulted in a scuffle, during which Bruno unfortunately bit one of the other dogs.
We want to be completely honest about this incident, while also putting it into context. Bruno was on lead and was suddenly confronted by unfamiliar dogs in a situation he was clearly struggling to cope with. His response appears to have been defensive rather than an indication that he is simply an aggressive dog.
However, we cannot control every environment or every dog, and it became clear that this particular lifestyle was not allowing Bruno to feel safe or settled.
π Bruno needs time.
He has experienced huge upheaval and multiple changes in a very short period. Dogs like Bruno don’t simply adjust overnight. For some dogs, settling into a new life can take weeks or even months, and their needs are incredibly individual.
We are looking for someone who will see beyond the difficult moments and give Bruno the time, patience, structure and understanding he needs to develop his confidence.

Bruno isn’t looking for a perfect home β he’s looking for the right one.
A home that understands that trust takes time. A home that won’t expect him to settle immediately. A home prepared to give him guidance rather than simply sympathy, and confidence rather than constant reassurance.
If you believe you could offer Bruno the calm, structured and understanding home he deserves, please get in touch. πΎβ€οΈ
