Coco is as sweet as sugar, and her story is one of incredible perseverance, strength, and triumph over adversity. She’s a beautiful hound mix with sleek brown fur, floppy ears, and soulful eyes that can melt any heart.

When Coco was first found, she was in a heartbreaking state—possibly the skinniest dog we had ever seen still clinging to life. She was little more than skin and bones, which led us to call her “Bones.” Her story quickly captured hearts on social media, and her photo was shared far and wide. Offers of support poured in, and thanks to the outpouring of kindness, Coco began her journey to recovery.

Now that she’s healthy and thriving, we felt it was time for a fresh start, including a new name to honor her incredible transformation. That’s how “Bones” became Coco—a name that reflects the bright, beautiful future ahead of her as she leaves her past behind.

Despite her large size, Coco is the true definition of a gentle giant. She’s friendly with everyone she meets and loves receiving a gentle pat. She’ll lean in for cuddles and enjoys being showered with affection. In a home, she would definitely be a sofa snuggler. Coco gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves to run around in the garden, playing with her friends—especially if there are a few toys to choose from.

Thanks to her patient and gentle nature, Coco would be fine with children, though we’d recommend a household with kids over 5 due to her size. While she’s not jumpy or boisterous, being a large dog, she could unintentionally knock over smaller children. This may be her first time in a home environment, so we suggest introducing her to new experiences slowly to avoid overwhelming her. If there’s already another dog in the home, Coco would benefit from having a companion to follow and learn from. As the only dog, some one-on-one training would help her adjust and thrive.

We haven’t yet had the chance to cat-test Coco, but we’d be happy to do so for any prospective adopter.
