Dear Mable is seeking a home where she can relish in the “retirement lifestyle”. She is a beauty, almost all black except for the white spotted patches on her chest and the adorable freckled ankle socks on her feet. Those big floppy ears and warm brown eyes make her a shining example of the beauty of Mix Breeds.

Mable didn’t have the easiest start in life—she was found on the streets, having to fend for herself and find food and shelter. But once we took her in, she quickly realized that the pet life is much better. After all she’s been through, Mable craves a quiet home where she can settle down for a well-deserved rest. Despite her young age, she doesn’t show any of the typical antics of a teenage dog. While other dogs her age race around the garden and tear through toys, Mable simply thinks, “Not for me, thanks!” She’d much rather find a sunny spot and snooze the day away.

A home without other dogs would be ideal for Mable, as she’s not dog-aggressive, but simply enjoys having her own space. She’s perfectly fine walking by other dogs during strolls and especially enjoys leisurely walks when the weather is nice and she can soak up the warmth of the sun on her short fur. However, we would not place Mable in a home with cats, as she isn’t too fond of the feline visitors at the kennels.

Mable prefers a quiet environment, so young children can sometimes be a bit much for her. She’s friendly with the children who visit the kennels, but we feel she would thrive best in an adult-only home, or with children who have experience with rescue dogs. A crate would also be a great way to give Mable a safe space to retreat to when she needs some well-deserved “me time.”
