Maxi is a dog who proves that great things come in small packages. This little pocket rocket is a charming mix of terrier and pug, blending the terrier’s spirited attitude and wiry coat with the pug’s scrunched nose and affectionate nature. His underbite gives him a slightly “miffed” expression, but the moment he smiles, it melts away to reveal his sweet and open personality.

At less than a year old, Maxi is still very much in his puppy phase. He’s full of energy, zipping around at full speed, and his small stature doesn’t stop him from running circles around other dogs in the play area. He would likely love a canine companion in his forever home to keep him entertained when his owners are busy. That said, Maxi would also be just as happy as the only dog in the household, lapping up all the attention as the apple of his owner’s eye. He will need training, consistency, and clear boundaries in his new home, so his family should be committed to helping him grow into the well-rounded family pet he has the potential to become.

Maxi adores children and is always delighted to receive treats from the staff’s kids at the kennels. However, as he can be excitable and prone to jumping up, we recommend that any children in his forever home be over the age of eight to prevent accidental knocks.

When it comes to cats, Maxi can be a bit hit and miss. He enjoys a game of chase, and while we don’t believe he would intentionally harm a cat, we would suggest that any feline housemates have experience living with dogs. If raised alongside cats, Maxi will soon learn when to back off with a bit of training.

While Maxi will mellow out as he matures, for now, we are enjoying the endless fun and laughter he brings. He would benefit from having a crate in his new home—a quiet retreat where he can wind down with a toy before bedtime.

Maxi is looking for a loving home that will embrace his lively spirit and guide him through his puppy years with patience and care.
