Lovely Mila is an absolute sweetheart. With her gorgeous white and ginger dappled coat—soft and smooth to the touch—and her contagious smile, she has truly made herself at home in our hearts. Now, she’s looking for a family to give her the love and care she has been missing.
When we first found Mila, we knew she needed help. She was spotted at the border of Macedonia, being chased and bullied by much larger dogs. Desperate to escape, she darted between moving cars, narrowly avoiding disaster. If we hadn’t stepped in, her story could have ended there.
Initially, Mila was taken in as part of the “Spay/Neuter, Release” programme, giving her the chance to receive veterinary care and be safely relocated elsewhere. But as soon as she realised we were there to help, she revealed her true nature—gentle, affectionate, and full of love. It quickly became clear that she was far better suited to life as a cherished pet rather than fending for herself on the streets.
Mila is shy at first when meeting new people; her time as a stray has made her cautious. But once she decides you’re trustworthy, she is incredibly sweet. She’s not the type to push to the front for attention—she waits patiently, hoping you’ll notice her and offer some love. She is gentle, easy to manage, and has a soft, kind nature.
Mila is comfortable around small dogs, but understandably, she can be nervous around larger ones. She could happily live with another well-mannered dog, ideally one of a similar size. Playful and energetic, she enjoys a good run around the garden. She could also live with children, as she has a naturally gentle temperament. We recommend any children in the home be over 10, though we would consider younger ones with previous experience around dogs and an understanding that sometimes dogs need their own space.
A crate would be a great way to give Mila a quiet retreat when things get overwhelming—somewhere soft with a cosy bed and a toy or chew treat to help her relax. That said, she’s a real people dog at heart, so she’d love a comfy spot in the living room where she can be part of the family.
Mila enjoys gentle walks around the neighbourhood and is still getting used to walking on a lead. With consistency and training, she will soon gain confidence, and at her young age, she’s more than happy to learn new tricks—especially if treats are involved!
We haven’t had the chance to cat test Mila yet, but we can arrange this for an interested adopter.
