Nelson is looking for his special home where he can settle down and enjoy being the apple of his owners eye. He is a handsome Spaniel mix with absolutely stunning features, long wavy coat and soft brown eyes. Nelson turns 5 in July and original hails from the gorgeous Welsh farmland.
Unfortunately he is needing a new home as his owners are relocating for work and Nelson cannot join them. His current owner has given us a description of his life with Nelson:
He is the most loving dog when he is with people he knows, which can take a little bit of time to develop. But when you are one of his trusted people, he is as loyal as they come. Nelson has had periods of anxiety and reactivity in the past, which with the help of the residential training, he has managed to overcome. There have been occasions when Nelson has been reactive when confronted (either by people reacting aggressively when he unintentionally got out through an open front door, or other dogs approaching off their leads) and as such we have agreed to only walk him on the lead and not to be walked by children.
He absolutely loves nothing more than running and chasing a ball/stick, and loves a run about at an enclosed dog field or running around with him in large garden spaces. Nelson also loves water and will be in rivers/the sea at any given opportunity! He enjoys and has the stamina for going on runs and longer walks. He really benefits from someone confident, and he takes confidence in this. Nelson has grown up with our cat and they are the best of friends. He has been so calm and gentle with our little boy. He is used to being walked twice a day but is very adaptable. He is fine being left during the day and we have never experienced any separation anxiety.
He is crate trained and is used to sleeping in his little cupboard overnight (or his crate if we go away). Nelson doesn’t need to go to a groomers, he’s very happy to be bathed (and hair dried) if he is dirty and loves a regular brush. We are absolutely devastated to have to rehome Nelson, it is purely as a result of a relocation to the Middle East, where we are unable to take him. We are aware that he won’t initially be the easiest dog, but as soon as he is familiar with people, he is an amazing and loyal companion. If you are a spaniel/active dog lover of this type of breed and are looking to rehome a fabulous very well trained boy.
