What a gorgeous little sausage you are, Ollie! This stunning pedigree Dachshund truly embodies the phrase “small but mighty”. A real pocket rocket, he’ll definitely keep you on your toes. Ollie is bursting with energy, loves to run and play, and is full of character, he can make anyone laugh.

Ollie is looking for a new home through no fault of his own. Sadly, he was placed with a gentleman in his 80s who simply couldn’t keep up with such a lively young pup. Although Ollie is a fabulous companion, he wasn’t the right fit for that particular household. His owner has therefore made the difficult but responsible decision to rehome him somewhere more suitable.

Like many Dachshunds, Ollie gets up to his fair share of antics. Despite their popularity, the breed is not ideal for first-time dog owners. They are intelligent, driven, quick, and surprisingly nimble – often excellent escape artists! To help set Ollie up for success, his adoption will include a handling session with a trainer.

He will need a home with a secure garden, as he has been known to sneak out and give his owners a fright. We recommend using a long lead in the garden so that, if he does discover a weak spot, he can’t make the most of it. Don’t underestimate him, he has cleared fences over five feet high and bolted. Those stubby little legs are deceiving!

Ollie gets on well with other dogs and could happily share his new home after a successful introduction. Equally, he would thrive as an only dog, lapping up all the attention for himself. He loves a game of kiss chase, enjoys cuddles, and is toilet trained as well as crate trained. With a little extra lead training and engagement, he’ll make an even more fantastic companion.

He is playful with children and enjoys a fuss, so we feel a home with children over eight years old would be suitable. Ollie hasn’t been tested with cats, but given the Dachshund’s natural prey drive, we recommend a cat-free home unless you’re confident in managing both.

We all fell in love with Ollie the moment we met him. He’s such a character and is bound to bring joy, fun, and plenty of laughter to his forever home.
