Who doesn’t love a bit of cheeky chocolate? Our charming Rolo is full of personality and mischief, making him the perfect sidekick for life’s adventures. After a narrow escape from a Romanian kill shelter, he’s now looking for a loving home where he can truly thrive.
Rolo’s story is one of survival. It’s likely he was born on the streets before being caught by dog catchers and traded for money. Thankfully, we saw his potential and stepped in just in time. The moment he was freed from his cage, he wasted no time in showing his gratitude—enthusiastically showering everyone with kisses and cuddles.
When we rescued him, he was originally named Anubis, but honestly? We didn’t think the name of an Egyptian God of Death suited such a lively, affectionate boy! So, we let our social media followers decide, and he was renamed Rolo—a name that fits him far better.
At around two years old, Rolo is in the full swing of his excitable teenage phase. He’s a wriggly, playful character with energy to burn, and he’ll soon be making the journey from Romania to the UK. Once he arrives, we’ll begin implementing some training to help channel his enthusiasm in the right direction. Rolo is a clever lad who will pick up training quickly with consistency. His new home will need to have clear boundaries to keep his cheeky antics in check, but after an active day, he’ll be more than happy to curl up on the sofa for a film night—especially if you’re willing to share the popcorn!
Rolo gets along well with other dogs and would settle easily into a home with resident canine companions. In fact, since he’s never lived in a home before, having a confident dog to show him the ropes could be beneficial. That said, he’s just as happy soaking up 100% of his owner’s attention as the only pet. We haven’t been able to cat-test Rolo yet, but we can arrange this for an interested adopter.
Rolo hasn’t had much experience around children, so we recommend a home with older children who are confident around dogs and understand how to interact with them appropriately. He’s a bouncy, playful lad who may accidentally knock over younger kids in his excitement, but with training and consistency, he has the potential to become a fantastic family companion.
