If you’re looking for a dog with an electrifying personality, look no further than Volt! Puns aside, Volt is a delightful young pup searching for his forever home. He’s a handsome mixed breed with a short, dense coat that’s mostly black, highlighted by striking white markings on his chest and paws. His big brown eyes perfectly reflect his loving and innocent nature.
Volt didn’t just come to us—he made sure we knew he needed help. One of our rescuers was out walking her dogs when Volt decided to squeeze in and join them, hoping to blend in with the pack and sneak his way into a new home. We admired his boldness, so we decided to bring him into the rescue and help him find the loving home he deserves.
The vet visit was a breeze for Volt—he seemed to love all the attention from the staff, eagerly accepting cuddles and care. He was completely unphased by the crate, settling in comfortably right away. Volt walks well on the lead and isn’t bothered by passing traffic. These signs lead us to believe that he may have once had a home but was sadly abandoned for unknown reasons, leaving him to seek comfort on his own until he found someone willing to help.
Volt is a smart and eager learner, especially when treats are involved. He absolutely loves food and would do just about anything for a tasty piece of chicken or sausage, making him highly trainable and perfect for an active household. He enjoys playing with other dogs and would thrive with a playmate in his future home. Being a big boy, he’s not afraid to use his size, so a dog with a matching play drive would be ideal. That said, Volt also adores human company, and he would be perfectly happy as the sole dog in a home as long as he gets plenty of attention. Joining a walking group or having regular doggy playdates would also be a great way for him to enjoy some canine interaction.
Volt would be suitable for a home with cats, but due to his playful nature and large size, we recommend that any cats in the home have experience with dogs. He might be a bit too much for shy or reserved cats, though he never means to cause any trouble.
Children over 12 would be ideal for Volt, as he is playful and loves interacting with his toys and taking treats from anyone. We would consider younger children who have experience with dogs, but we want to avoid any accidental tumbles. With his high energy and intelligence, Volt would make a wonderful companion for children in an active household.
