Meet Sofia, affectionately dubbed Princess Sofia, the cuddle champion with a spring in her step, on a quest for a castle to call her own. She sports sleek fur and striking patterns, complete with a pair of dainty blonde brows that elevate her charm. And yes, she struts with a quirky front leg — but we believe it’s her signature strut that makes her even more endearing!

At around 4 years old, Sofia has spent half her life with us, witnessing many kennelmates find their forever homes. Despite the wait, she remains a patient soul. She’s a delightful and sociable girl who adores human company, always ready for a cuddle and happy to be pampered all day long. She definitely deserves the royal treatment.

Sofia interacts wonderfully with other dogs, having matured past her overly boisterous stage. She remains calm and collected when meeting on lead and enjoys running and playing in communal outdoor areas. Her size is medium to large, akin to that of a Labrador, and she has a bit of weight to her—though that’s just between us! Sofia would be a great option for someone who has existing dogs in the home, but she would be just as happy being the centre of attention as the sole dog.

She gets along splendidly with cats, content to sniff them thoroughly before returning to seek affection from her human companions. She would happily share her future home with cats.

As previously stated, Sofia has a wonky front leg. Our vet has thoroughly examined it and determined that it cannot be “fixed,” but it does not seem to trouble her, and she walks just fine without any discomfort. It’s quite possible she was just born this way. As she ages, we suggest a joint supplement, which is standard advice for all dogs as they get older. Sofia enjoys walks and running around the garden, so a secure outdoor area would be ideal for her to play with her toys, bask in the summer sun, and engage in games of fetch with her owner.

Sofia is suitable to live with children. Given her larger size, it is recommended that children be over the age of 10, although she may also be suitable for younger children who have prior experience with dogs. Her endearing personality makes her an excellent companion for kids. With consistent training, especially since she is highly motivated by food, Sofia is likely to learn new tricks quickly.

It’s always recommended to set up a crate to provide the dog with a private space, away from the busy home environment. A “princess suite” for Sofia would be perfect for her to snuggle up in the evenings and enjoy some tranquillity. It also offers her a space to calm down if houseguests are not fond of her energetic welcome.
