Big Fred is an amazing, large lad who was rescued from Romania. He made his way to the UK in hopes of finding a forever home, yet he remains with us. His size may be intimidating, but he epitomizes the term “gentle giant.” He’s a wonderful dog in search of a home where he can roam about and enjoy some cuddles. Big Fred is always happy to greet you, and his cute wiggly behind paired with that cheerful grin just brings out the laughter in everyone.

He’s a pro at walking on the lead and doesn’t mind other dogs, but he’d really love a home where he’s the star of the show. Big Fred has come a long way with the help of our kennel staff and volunteers; all he’s missing is his forever home. No matter how great a kennel is, it just can’t compare to the comfort of a cosy couch and a loving family. He constantly seeks affection from people, placing a paw on your arm or leg as if to say, “More, please!”

He has the potential to be a strong dog and may be a bit clumsy, so it’s best he isn’t placed in a home with young children or cats. He gets excited about walks but responds well to the command “No” and settles down quickly once he’s outside. He enjoys running around a field with his football and would thrive in a home with a secure garden. At day’s end, he’s content to relax on his bed with a chew toy or a crunchy buffalo horn.

Big Fred is an amazing dog with a fantastic personality and an endearing sense of humor. All he needs is the opportunity to leave the kennels for a loving home. He’s got tons of love to offer and is a favorite among us at the shelter. We’ll all miss him deeply when he finally finds his forever home.

He has tested negative for brucellosis, leishmaniasis and has passed his Snap 4D test which tests for heartworm, ehrlichia and anaplasma. A healthy, happy boy.
