πΎπ MEET BLUβ¦ BUT HEβS NOT BLUE! ππΎ
Introducing little Blu, our tiny baby boy who has already had a rather unsettled start to life at just 11 weeks old. ππΆ
Blu has an unclear history, and what we do know is that his first placement lasted just five days before it became apparent that one of the children in the household was allergic to him.
His owner, in a desperate attempt to manage the situation, built Blu a kennel in the garden. But he knew that this was no life for such a young puppy, and he reached out to us for urgent help.
Returning Blu to his breeder was apparently not an option, so Doggy Dens UK Rescue stepped in to give this little boy the chance he deserves. β€οΈπΎ
And so, Blu has joined our rescue family and is heading into foster care with our wonderful, experienced puppy raiser, Chris. He is now beginning his journey towards a safe, happy and secure future. π‘β€οΈ
Well, we’re still getting to know him!
So far, he seems to be a very sweet, friendly little chap. He appears to be able to let us know when it’s toilet time, which is a lovely start for such a young puppy.
However, one thing we’ve noticed is that Blu seems cautious about closing his eyes and settling down to sleep.
Perhaps he simply hasn’t felt secure enough yet to completely relax. We won’t pretend to know what his early experiences have been, but we do know that feeling safe takes time, patience and consistency.
For now, we’ll let Blu settle at his own pace, learn his little ways and discover that he no longer needs to worry about what comes next.
One day, we’re hoping he’ll be able to curl up, close those little eyes and sleep soundly, knowing he’s safe. β€οΈπΎ
Now that’s the million-dollar question! π€π
We have been told that Dad was a Patterdale Terrier and Mum was apparently a Shih Tzu/Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross.
So, Blu is our very own little mystery mix!
We suspect he will grow into a small-to-medium-sized dog, although, as with any puppy of mixed and uncertain parentage, his eventual size and appearance cannot be guaranteed.
Those little sausage-sized legs are already stealing hearts, though! β€οΈπΎ
For now, our priority is to help Blu settle into foster care, build his confidence and allow us to get to know his personality and needs.
Next week, he is due to visit the vets for a full health check, vaccinations and microchipping before he goes anywhere.
We’ll continue to observe him carefully and make sure we’re making the right decisions for his future.
Blu’s applications are now open! β€οΈπ‘
Although we’re accepting applications, we won’t be rushing this little boy into a home. He is still a baby, and we want to give him the best possible start in life.
His future family must understand the commitment involved in raising a puppy β from toilet training and socialisation to boundaries, routine, training and all those little puppy moments that come with growing up.
Blu needs a family who will help him become a confident, happy and well-adjusted adult dog.
This little boy has already experienced change at an age when he should simply be learning about the world, feeling safe and enjoying being a puppy.
Now it’s our turn to show him that life can be kind.
We want Blu to have a family who will love him for the rest of his life, not just while he’s tiny and adorable.
Someone who will patiently guide him through puppyhood, give him security and make sure he never has to wonder where he belongs again. πΎπ
If you think you could offer Blu the loving, committed home he deserves, please get in touch with Doggy Dens UK Rescue, a registered rescue charity with RBU status established.
Please share our little Blu. His forever family could be out there waiting to find him! β€οΈπΎ
