Charming Charlie is a 3 year old rescue who has had a fair amount of stress in his younger years. Born as a street dog, he found a home for himself in a small restaurant in Macedonia. The owner was so happy to have Charlie, he even made him his own corner in the seating area so he could chill out and people watch. He was even on the local news as a feel good story, showing off his polite personality and the kindness of the people around him.

Unfortunately that kindness did not extend to the local people, after several attacks to Charlie, even attempts to attack him in his sleep. Attempts were even made on the restaurant owner and his family for having Charlie. Eventually, the restaurant owner decided that Charlie was better off in the hands of a rescue so that he could have a forever home.

One of our favourite things about Charlie is his attitute towards children, he is so gentle and patient with children of any age so we would happily rehome him with a family. He gets on well with other dogs and is polite on walks, mostly because he greatly prefers the company of people. He is a cuddle bug and will make himself at home next to you on the sofa or curl up in his bed with a toy or chewy treat. He can be vocal when he wants something but we think that just comes from being “vertically challenged”. He would suit many different kinds of homes and we really hope that his forever home fills in an application soon.

Charlie has been around cats outside and hasn’t shown any aggression towards them but we would like to cat test him properly before we consider rehoming him with a cat as he can be a bit protective over his food, which is understandable given his history. You can tell that he likes his food because he is chunky for his size and has some serious heft to him.
