Rocket is a charming young man in need of a home where he can be the centre of attention. He is a scruffy, ruggedly handsome dog with mostly black fur highlighted with brown on his legs as well as an impressive beard that gives him the look of a wise old man but with the free spirit of a young dog.

At three years old he is past his nippy puppy phase and has settled into his adult personality, he has lived in a home all his life and has had all the benefits of home life. He is fully house trained, crate trained, walks well on the lead and settles nicely in the evenings. According to his previous owner, he makes a lovely little spoon when you’re on the sofa together.

Rocket is looking for a new home. His owners have loved him dearly since he was six months old but his owner has had a few health complications that have resulted in her having her suffering with anxiety, unfortunately this is rubbing off on Rocket and making him nervous in his home. He loves snuggling and is always happy to see his owners but can be anxious about new people.

He does like other dogs, he currently lives with a Labrador and loves playing in the garden with him. He definitely lives up to his name, he loves zooming round the garden at 100mph leaving other dogs in the dust. He loves chasing his ball but doesn’t understand that he has to give it back so that it can be thrown again. He likes being out on walks, ideally away from busy roads and loud children. He does well on a long line in an open field so that he can explore while still being safely on lead. He can be selective with unknown dogs but we have training in place to work on neutrality. We are always happy to organise a handling session with our trainer to ensure that he keeps up the good work.

Rocket isn’t the biggest fan of children. He prefers a tranquil environment where he can be left alone in a quiet area if he fancies. Children are too unpredictable for him and are a bit too noisy for him, he has never bitten but he will try his best to avoid children. Older teenagers shouldn’t be a problem but his ideal home would be with only adults. Rocket is also a bit of a ladies man, much preferring female company to men. Rocket will need a crate in his new home, he loves having his own little bedroom where he can go to have some time to himself. He is a cuddle-bug at heart so a place on the sofa would be just lovely during the colder months.

He is a “warmer-upper” he isn’t trusting right away and can be standoffish to new people, but once he has decided he likes you, he is a loyal and loving companion. He isn’t a fan of the hustle or the bustle, so he would be an ideal match for a single owner or couple who meet with friends outside of the house. If people are coming to the home we would advise that he be kept on a lead for a bit of extra control if needed.

Rocket is a real smarty pants, he knows plenty of tricks and is always eager to learn. He loves figuring out puzzle toys and playing “hide and seek” with his toys or a treat. He is a shredder and will rip up any paper he finds, so make sure important documents are kept safely out of reach!
