Tilly is our tall, graceful girl whose fluffy fur and soulful eyes are enough to melt anyone’s heart. She is a stunning mixed breed with a unique wavy coat that has a bit of a mind of its own, but we think that only adds to her charm.

Tilly came to us after being spotted in a Romanian kill shelter, along with two small puppies. Poor Tilly was skin and bones, doing her best to feed her puppies and provide what little warmth she could. When we rescued them from the shelter, it was discovered that Tilly’s puppies had Parvovirus. This would have been treatable with proper veterinary care, but unfortunately, it was too late to save them.

Now that Tilly has had time to recover physically and mentally, she is slowly learning that not all humans are bad. “Slow and steady” will be her mantra. She enjoys spending time with her carers, loves being pampered with gentle fusses, and relishes being told just how beautiful she is. She is a funny size, described as a small large or a large medium… Either way, we think she’s fine just the way she is!

Tilly is happy to walk on a lead but would benefit from some patience and training. She loves a good nap, so a home with a garden would be ideal, where she can soak up the sun and watch the birds. Tilly gets on well with other dogs and could live with one in the home. However, we always recommend feeding separately, as dogs like Tilly can be protective of their food bowl.

Cats are no trouble for Tilly; her carers say she isn’t bothered by them at all and could happily coexist with feline housemates.

Tilly doesn’t have much experience around children, so we would advise rehoming her to an adult-only home or to a family with children over 12 who understand that some dogs like to have time and space to themselves. A crate would be a good way to give Tilly her own little sanctuary, like a small bedroom, where she can retreat when the hustle and bustle of home life becomes a bit too much.

Tilly has come such a long way since her rescue and is now ready to find her forever home, where she can continue to blossom. Despite her past, she has a gentle and loving nature, and with the right support, she will thrive in a calm, patient environment. Her ideal home would be one where she can feel safe and secure, with plenty of quiet moments to relax and enjoy the simple things in life. Tilly may take a little time to settle fully, but once she does, her sweet and loyal nature will shine through, making her an incredibly rewarding companion.
